Mic doesn't work

Hi, this is a new computer and a new headset and I can't get the mic working on this headset or on my old one. I can hear the mic on voice loopback (voice test) a little bit when i rub the mic but cannot hear my mic. Does anyone think they know the problem? I'm using the ports on the front of my Cooler Master Centurion 5 case and I'm using onboard sound.

hmmm well all i could think of is updating Sound card drivers see if that helps..

sorry i never looked back at this thread so i never replied. my realtek audio drivers are all updated and everything. again, i can hear my mic a little bit but hardly at all i have to put my mouth right next to the mic. it's frustrating and i would really like to fix the problem.

just turn the mic up in the volume slider box. also if you go into advanced in the mic volume, you can turn on a 20dB boost.
