Messed up sound

Alright, I finally got to lookin at my mobo. There wasn't anything printed on the board itself, but there were some stickers, one said 0CMT171131. There was another little chip thing that had TAIMIC HA003 on it. And for some reason, there was a battery hooked up to my mobo. It was sitting in a little battery holder on the mobo. Any ideas what that is for?

Yeah the battery is to keep the CMOS memory intact - It is volatile memory you see, will have a look and see if that number means anything to anyone!

OK, try all of these:

Thinking about it, if the PC said no sound card detected then the most likely cause is the BIOS option from the above link.

if not then here is a link to the homepage for your PC model:

Hope one of those should fix it!! Good luck, tell me if it doesnt work... dunno what to do if they dont but...!

I already did the BIOS thing. None of those links help. The first link is what I first went to to see what I could do to fix the problem. I'm all out of ideas as to what's wrong.

I really think it's hp's onboard soundcards.(i own a old hp pc too) i have a problem similer to ur's, apart from i can hear sound but it's poor quality. u might need to change ur soundcard, or a reformat might be able to help.

I have reformatted, and I don't have a sound card. I have onboard sound and can't think of a way to get it working.

The only other thought i have is that your onboard sound chip may have broken! Try using a different sounds card, if that works then we can isolate the problem to the on board sound, if it doesnt then it is probably a software based problem
