Media center edition 2005

Looking at buying a new computer with the Media center edition 2005 in it.
Amd 3400 processor
Has anyone heard of anything bad about it or any corks with certain programs?????

I just got it and I am loving it. It is basically just XP Pro but with the media center software. Comes with SP2 which is a big plus.

...i don't have it myself...so my voice wont' count for much, but i heard that's it's bad...'pecially the user interface...

It's an open source version of the windows "Media Center" software.

it's very stable, and works with any version of win.

don't spend useless money! Go Open Source!!!

Media Portal is very nice. I have used it quite abit. It is a project by the lead guy who did XBMC, which is GREAT.

However, if you need an OS anyways, and want to go legit, I would still recommend MCE. It is nice that it comes up-to-date with SP2, and even though MediaPortal is great, I still prefer the intrergration of the media center. It works great with the remote and is just a little more seemless than running mediaportal.

If you aready have XP, then yeah, I would just add on MediaPortal.
