I have a basic 8 ohm speaker I scrapped. It looks like those small 2" beepers in the computer but its about 4-5". I want to hook it up to a computer, just for basic sound. I can solder and all that. I know I need to go get a jack for the sound port but I know it isn't direct wiring is it? Any help is appreciated.

Just grab an old set of speakers, scavenge the cable off it, (and make sure it's a mono cable if you're only connecting to one speaker), strip the ends of the wires, solder it on, and plug it in.

This is were you MUST pm EricB or Crysalis, tell them it's about speaker building and noobs like me can't help to much and i think they'd reply :)

If he just wants an answer to the 'speaker jack to speaker' question tho, yes you can. Only thing to be careful of is the impedance of the speaker. An 8 ohm speaker shouldn't be a problem plugged into a pc. I think standard impedance for tweeters and mid-range speakers is 8 ohms, and for subs its 4 ohms
