Default Looking for photo editor

I need to find a decent photo editor for pictures from my digital cam. free. I downloaded gimp, but it's going to take time for me to learn that *or photoshop, tho I don't have the money for photoshop* so easy to use. I guess specifically, I have a large amount of pictures from my camera that have red eye and/or very dark pictures. any help would be supremely appreciated!
