Looking at making the jump...

Thanks for the replies. I've found that the Marantz PM6002 amp gets great reviews, and the £200 price tag is very attractive (at RicherSounds) as it is about £70 cheaper than most other places. The Mordaunt-Short 902i speakers from Amazon at £109 also seem like great value, so it's looking like that combo so far.

I can honestly say that a CD player may benefit me in the future, but for now, it would be money wasted, as nearly all my music is downloaded (I have about 20 albums on CDs which I barely listen to, compared to the 40gb of music on my PC).

However, I might benefit from a soundcard upgrade, as I am currently using onboard sound, from my 3-year old mobo which wasn't even top of the range then. What do you think?

You MUST get a soundcard if your going for the PC route.

Spend around 50 to £150. Xfi, Maudio, Auzentech etc
