Linking PC and HIFI

Hi!

I want to link my HIFI to the PC to be able to hear my songs over the HIFI to have good quality. (better speakers)
I tried to do it over my line-out klink of the audiocard an dthe normal stereo cinch of the hifi, but it sounds awful. i think it is because the signal is already ampliefied by the card.

Is this the right way to connect them?

Are there special cards that give a "pure" signal or something like that?

I guess, you're fed up with this question, because it was asked so many times...

Can somebody tell me how the "professionals" solve this problem?
Do they use optical output to optical input?
