laptop live encoding for live stream

Hello,

I am using real producer 10 to try and live encode and stream the footage to another computer. Howver, the program does not recognize my firewire port as a capture device. anybody have any resources for solving this problem? Or laptop capture cards that can be installed? the project involves live remote video streaming, and needs to be from a laptop with limited power supply.

Get a Dazzle USB capture device.....problem solved........no you don't have to keep the girlz oiled up for much longer.

Does that take external power? Our project involves traveling while recording and streaming. We have a PCMCIA wireless broadband card than enables a good internet connection throughout our entire coverage area, but what we don't have is a constant power supply. Also, do capture cards for laptops with firewire ports exists? firewire is much better for video transfer than usb.
