How to record a demo for my products

Hey

I am looking for a screen recorder program to record step by step How-to demo for my products. I would appreciate if someone could suggest a good and inexpensive screen recorder software?

I use the open-source CamStudio for Windows and Gtk-RecordMyDesktop for Linux. Both programs are good, but CamStudio is excellent. I use it to record screencasts on Youtube.

try using Windows Media Studio, its free. else spend cash.

but di give a try to CalcProgrammer1's recommendation of CamStudio, it wont bring out par excellent results, but will be favourable.

industry uses Camtasia Studio, or WebEX (big players, like Rolls Royce, Subaru, Canon)

I don't know, CamStudio does pretty well. It works well even on old computers (recorded smoothly on my P3-850MHz laptop) and has an option to follow the mouse pointer around the screen, great for small-screen (320x240 or other Internet sizes) screencasts.
