How can I create Subtitles to a movie I recorded using my MiniDV Camera?

Hi,

I was wondering what software is there for creating subtitles for the movie I took using my miniDV camera...?

Also, what prgrams are there to create proffesional looking DVD Menus? I was thinking of making the video recorderd a DVD with subtitles and a menu...the subtitles though can always be there (it is not necessary to have an option to have them on or off..they can be on all the time)
