The current subwoofer on my cheap PC speakers is really weak and I frequently hear it maxing out. I have access to a standard self-powered home theatre style subwoofer with an RCA input, and on my mobo I have an integrated 8 channel sound card. I was wondering how to hook the sub up to this. My plan is to set my sound card to 5.1 and just use the front left, front right, and LFE channels. Would this work if I got a standard 1/8" stereo to RCA cable, plugged it into the Center/LFE plug, and just used one RCA plug off that cable for the subwoofer?
I see no reason why this wouldn't work, but I am not one for breaking semi-expensive electronics so I would like to double check before I attempt anything.
Thanks for any input,
~Greg
