Hearing Mic Through Headphones

I keep hearing myself talk in the mic through my headphones and would like to stop it. I am running Windows XP SP3 with an onboard soundcard (Realtek AC97 Audio). I never experienced this before. I think I messed around with one too many settings. Thanks in advance.

Moved to audio section.

You need to find the settings for the Mic and turn the volume down on that. It maybe with the RealTek stuff or within the XP Control Panel for sound.

Find the playback section in your audio settings. Mute microphone for playback and leave it un-muted for recording.
