had an idea is it possible

I currently have a nice Altec Lansing speaker system that i would like to stay around my computer. But is it possible to plug in another audio system to the same computer? then run the new audio system to another room where the speakers can play the music without being in the same room as the computer?

If so could some one point me in a direction or give me some information?
