Good Gaming Headset?

my headset is pretty much busted, and im looking for a enw one for Christmas. i was thinking about a 5.1 headset, but is there any advantages/disadvantages to those?

well anway, i just need a good quality headset, doesnt have to be wireless or cost an obscene amount of money, under $50 would be good
