glitchy sound after re-format

i have not been happy with my computer after i had to format it.

the sound, doesnt matter what music player, pauses for 1-2secs every minute or so. i am using the drivers from the original CD, which i had no problems with before.

any ideas?

something is eating resources...check CPU/RAM usages while playing music.

nope, CPU and ram all fine. cpu is idling, and i have loads of ram.

it randomly went away! how strange. no idea what was causing that. i havent changed anything.
