Unhappy Getting 6.1 speakers to work

I have just purchased some Logitech X620 6.1 speakers and a Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-bit sound card, but I cannot get the rear speakers to work. When I test them with the Creative software they work, but when I play music, they don't. Please help me.

The music files you are playing are probably not encoded to have surround sound. If you can, try playing a game and see what happens. Look for a THX or Dolby label on the game box to see if it is surround sound compatible.

Okay, so where can I find surround sound encoded music? I want to see if my speakers actually work...

I dont know if these will work or not (i only have 2.1 system) but you can try these.

http://maven3d.com/en/download.asp

scroll down to the 3D Samples section. You could also download some of their free programs to see if they bring any help.

You can also buy CD's that are specifically made to test surruond sound systems:

i'll answer any other questions if you still need help!

They don't seem to work, but don't bother looking for others; I've decided that I don't need 6.1 speakers since I don't usually watch movies and such. I didn't think that it was this complicated lol

I'll take them back and get 2.1.

Good idea! Unless your a gamer or you watch movies on your pc, then theres not much reason to have above 2.1. Please look at the post i just did on buying speakers.
