Frequency Out Of Range

Hey all i need some help. I recently got team fortress 2 for my PC,and i try changing the screen resolution in accordance to the game screen being in a window,and now every time i boot th game up i get a blank screen with a Frequency Out Of Range floating text on the screen. ive tried changing the screen resolution manually from the computer with changing color quality,but to no avail.
i really wish to resolve such an issue,what can i do?

start in safe mode (dont ask me how, google is your friend) then set the resolution to the native resolution of your monitor, then restart in normal mode. if that doesnt work, try it with progressively lower resolutions.
