dvd's wont play on laptop

i bought a second hand compaq armada m300 yesterday for music/movies/schoolwork but now that i have finished updating all my software and installing power dvd 6 it wont detect any dvd's i put in the dvd drive. can anyone help me please? because if i could get this working the it will be perfect. thx in advance

specs;
pentium3 500mhz processor
320mb ram
18.6gb hdd
dvd/cd drive
floppy drive
4mb onboard graphics

ok it will play dvd games but when i try putting a movie in now ll it does is play the sound and the picture is replaced with visualisations like in wmp

Ah, reinstall power dvd or use another player, or simply do a right click on power dvd screen --> No visualisations.

If you get desperate, and reinstalling power dvd doesnt work, try AVS dvd player. its....olright....

well i tried installing an older version of power dvd(5) and it works it seems that it didnt like power dvd 6 thanks for your help
