For some reason, whenever I try playing back a DVD on my Windows XP laptop, it stutters (randomly pauses briefly, then continues). I tried setting both the Primary and Secondary IDE channels to "Use DMA If Available". The Primary IDE channel set itself to "Ultra DMA Mode 5", but the secondary channel is still in "PIO mode".

I don't think it's the DVD playback software - I tried Windows Media Player 11 and VLC, and both stutter. Everything runs fine in Linux, though.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

if you have a small amount of ram i.e 64 mb you should seriously consider upgrading

its not often you see someone give advice like that and it works first time, gernally its just people not having everything plugged in,
