I am looking for a program that will copy DVD's to a HDD without losing any quality. Also, what format is the best quality to use? Mpeg2, Mpeg4, AVI? I am trying to make a backup library on my HTPC that will soon be hooked up to my new LCD widescreen TV. I have played with a few programs, some copy the dvd into one file, some copy the movie by chapters. Which way is best? I have a ton of dvd's to copy, so speed would be nice also, but still want good quality for playback since the TV will be around 46". I don't care if the program is free or if I have to pay for it, hence the quality again.

rip it as a dvd video (anydvd, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, smartripper, etc ) and you won't lose any quality. if you wanted a small file size with little quality loss use auto gk
