Ok I took an SS of how my DVD movies currently look. The ones that are in DIVX format, and are very good quality. The ones in the folders are just the DVDs I have lieing around the house that I have decrypted with DVD-Decrypter. Well the divx ones are 1gb, and the foldered decrypted ones are about 8gb. lol. I was wondering what I can get to convert them to DIVX!!! I've tried 1Click but just don't know what to make the settings to. The dvd folder contents are .VOB files.

The ones that are DIVX I got from a LAN and I didn't know how the guy made them like that. Is there anything I can download to convert them to be smaller in a DIVX format BUT STILL KEEP QUALITY!!!

heres the SS

Here are some nifty tips but you do not have to go this way.
For 1 click conversion, you could try dr divx or that divx converter from divx....

The best way to retain you dvds is in the following formats
DivX6 - Container
OGM - Ogg Vorbis Media Container
Matroska - Containter

These are not codecs, but containers with codecs...even divx 6.
It is very nifty because you can compress\retain all dvd menus, audio languages, surround sound, subtitles, video angles, etc

To do regular DIVX:
1st
Find the main movie VOB files.
Combine the main movie VOB file into 1 big vob file
Use MSDOS to do it.........
Go the directory of your vob files using cd somefolder
if you type cd\ , then youll drop down to the drive letter or root director.
Exaples
Before
C:\> cd windows
After
C:\WINDOWS\>

Before
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\> cd\
After
C:\>

When you get into your desired directory use the following command.
copy /b file1.vob+file2.vob+file3.vob finalFile.vob
Example:
C:\WINDOWS\>
C:\WINDOWS\> cd\
C:\>
C:\> cd movie
C:\MOVIE\>
C:\MOVIE\> copy /b VTS1_1.VOB+VTS1_2.VOB+VTS1_3.VOB VTS.VOB
VTS1_1.VOB
VTS1_2.VOB
VTS1_3.VOB
Done!
C:\MOVIE\>

Then use:
Virtual Dub Mod to open the large vob file and export the video. You could export the final file here
OR
Export video to DV
Export audio to Wav

Use Dr Divx to combine the streams and compress the movie

To get an MKV file you would do the similar thing
but only comress the video with dr divx with no audio.
Rip all the AC3 streams from the dvd.
Rip all the subtitle images from the dvd and convert them to text.
Make a chapter file with .txt extension
Example:
CHAPTER01=00:00:00.000
CHAPTER01NAME=Chapter 01
CHAPTER02=00:02:30.000
CHAPTER02NAME=Chapter 02
CHAPTER03=00:02:42.300
CHAPTER03NAME=Chapter 03

Finally, merge your streams using an editor found on
http://www.matroska.org/downloads/windows.html

To play matroska, you will also need to install filters, splitters and sub servers....not to mention codecs.

It is very nice once you get the hang of it....

I'm not sure on how to do the DIVX6 container or OGM container....

Awesome guide man. This will take me some time. I printed and I will be screwing around for the next couple hours, :) Thanks!

I still haven't got around to this. It looks hard to do for EACH DVD I have... lol. I don't want to spend weeks on this. If possible a couple days would be better. Its just whoever did these this way. Did it the way I want. Good quality and 1/7th of the Size. =/ haha

It takes an estimate time of 6hrs to convert one dvd to divx on my computer :( I might do this on the weekends
