DVD burning help

Ok, Im trying to figure out how to burn DVD's so that i can play them on dvd players other then my computer. I have a program called DVD shrink and I can rip the dvd from there but I don't know what to do from there. I have dvd r's but don't know how to burn them on there so that its a format that can be read on a normal DVD player. I have nero if i need to use that, i also have roxio to burn as well. Oh, i also use a dell and have windows XP. any help would be greatly appreciate, thanks!
