I just installed XP, but when I try to install the realtek driver for my sound, it fails during the install.
Error message is:"Install Realtek HD audio driver failure !! (Error code : -0001)"
I've had a look around, and it seems it might be related to the motherboard. Someone else had exactly the same problem and we both have s-series motherboards. The funny thing is it works fine on vista.
The only other 'maybe' problem is the boot drive is the E: drive, and I'm thinking the driver installer might not like that.
any ideas would be appreciated!

I tried installing the original driver that came with the pc, I also tried downloading the driver specifically for xp, but both times it gives the same error. and yes the chipset drivers are installed. I'll try reinstalling though.

Make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and install them first. after that install the audio drivers. That will be the only way they work.
