DisplayPort

Hi all, its been awhile since i been here but anyways. I've been reading a little bit about Display Port and it says its better than hdmi so im wondering if i use a Display Port to hdmi will i lose the full benefit of the Display Port and only get the quality of the hdmi? Trying to hook up my PC to my 55 inch LCD. ATM i have my PC hooked up with just hdmi.

DisplayPort is no better than HDMI as far as I know (just as good I think); however it's open to be used by anyone, whereas HDMI is owned and patented by Sony, which drives up the cost of any HDMI product. If HDMI is doing you fine, you have no reason to use DisplayPort.
