Just wondering how much different a good sound card makes in a computer. Is there huge difference in the sound quality...does it help gaming in fps at all to hear stuff better? lol idk just wondering

It probably won't help your FPS, if it will maybe just a little bit.. The main reason people buy sound cards is for a lot better sound quality, and you can hear things much further away, tell where things are coming from more clear, etc.

You should use a headset for gaming, especially if your going to buy a new sound card, to get the most out of your sound card.

the range of human hearing is generally accepted as 20hz to 20khz. many built in soundcards have a response of only 40hz to 15khz @ 3db. this means the extreme low freqencies (explosions, some bass drums and bass notes) and high frequencies (detail in voice, cymbals, "airyness" of sound and music) are reduced. some built-in cards are a little better, others a little worse. an aftermarket soundcard upgrade will give full response and allow you to hear music/sound how it was meant to be heard.
