crackly speakers...

Hey all, I have some speakers, woofer (creative 5.1) and Audigy LS. All of the sudden when i listen to my music or play games, it gives me a crackly sound...like something is loading. So i took things into my own hands and put the speakers and woofer in a stereo that i have. Speakers and woofer are fine...i being cinfuzzled. My pc specs are below \/

I had a soundblaster player 1024.

This was fine until I started playing some of the new games. During the PC's busy times the sound would get crackly and fade in and out quickly in a weird fashion.

I upgraded to an Audigy 2 and all is fine.

You have tried the speakers elsewhere, so it appears not to be them, so I think it must be the sound card.

Does it crackle all the time or just in some applications? Try closing all tasks and then running something like winamp to see if a difference is seen (heard).
