I don't think it would be the soundcard. Anything Soundblaster makes is pretty top notch. I would say it's the speakers. Or maybe the Sound ports on the card have become loose or dirty? Because if you push the connector in slow the speakers will crackle a little bit then your good.

That song was perfactly clear out of my Z5500's... uhggg just try them in another system that way you will know if its the speakers or not... or plug in your mp3 player into the control center.

Did you read the Links I posted to the other forum topics?? they pretty much tell what to check for, if you get the crackling sound

This is why i love my Klipsch 2.1's hehe and trust me i jam very hard my parents are usually at work when i get home so i crank up the jams.
