Concern about vista's non midi choosing device.

I recently bought a Yamaha sound card DSXG.
The reason why I bought this sound card because microsoft left out the option to choose from another software midi synthesizer or using an external sound card's midi synthesizer.

I found on google a vista midi picker I switch it to my yamaha sound card synthesizer.
It works great and all but vista is only limiting it to windows media player only ?
I've tried winamp and windows media classic found with k-lite but it is still defaulting to vista's horrible midi synthesizer, I do some sidework with the yamaha synthesizer and creating midi's for a few businesses.

I can't do a proper job when listening to windows default midi because not all of the instruments are accurate, does anyone know what might be the problem here and how to fix it ?

I understand that you felt that this is a Windows question, but you may want to ask the mods to have this moved to the Computer Audio & Multimedia section, where this thread is just as concerned with sound card issues, just my 2 cents worth.
