I have a gigabte s-series EP35-DS3R mother board and have tried several different speakers in it including ones with a sub and built in amplifier. I have also tried headphones and the sound is always choppy and sounds like it is plugged into a sub outlet (low pass crossover). I have tried all the outlets for speakers and made sure the settings are set correctly for front speakers, but can't seem to make it sounds worth a darn. I know the speakers and headphones work as I have used them on other computers.

If there is nothing new I can try, would you recommend a good valued soundcard that would work with this MB so I can get the speakers working.

Thanks

Good value, best compatibility, your safest bet is a Creative X-Fi ExtremeMusic, or for a tight budget even ExtremeAudio. If you wan't better sound quality, and willing to splash some more money around, Auzentech and Asus Xonar soundcards are the way to go.
