Can someone tell me of better video software?

Hi everyone!

I am currently using Nero Ultimate 7. It repeatedly crashes and even causes error messages and restarts. I really like all the bells and whistles, but I have never been able to keep it stable.

I also have Windows media player but it will not play my recorded movies [sound only, but no video] that I record off the air using a digital format with a Hauppauge tv tuner card.

I also tried VLC media player but it is very poor when it comes to playing recorded digital recorded movies.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Here are my questions:

Is there anything I can do to make Nero more stable?
Are there any other software programs that I might use to play my recorded movies?

Have you tried WinAmp? RealPlayer 11 also is pretty good at playing multiple formats. They finally got rid of all the advertising as well.

It could also be the codec you're using. Try updating it if it has any.

If the stuff you record wont play, then its due to missing codecs. Most likely its because youve selected an encoder that you dont have a decoder for, so you should download a codec pack.

Do you run vista? Nero is known to have compatibility issues with it.
