Sorry if this is a basic question but I an new to a lot of this. I was wondering how to take mpeg, xvid, divx.... and burn them to a dvd disc? What programs should I use to do this, and do I need a dvd burner? I currently have a cd burner. Tanks for any information and advice.

Errrr........is this a wind up?

Do you need a DVD Burner to write DVD's?
I can write on DVD's with one of those ball markers and burn them in a toaster.

Anwayz:
CDRWs (CD-burners) write to cdr's and cdrw's.

Divx/xvid/svcd(mpeg2)/vcd(mpg) are ways of getting video/audio files onto a CD (with SVCD and VCD being playable in a DVD set top player)..........to avoid the need of a DVD Burner which until the last 12 months or so where VERY EXPENSIVE.

To make any of those you need some video files to use in the first place....either Captured
from a vid camera or a TV card etc.... or... Ripped from an existing file (like one of your DVD's?).

What are you trying to do?... (and NO PIRACY questions!!!...so if ripping ensure its YOUR copy....use the words BACK UP).
