burning AVIs and MPEGs on DVDs

is there a program that will convert AVI or MPEG/MPG files into files that are readable in a home DVD player? or a program that will burn AVIs or MPEGs/MPGs onto a DVD in a format that is readable? thanks in advance

vance43211 he caught you making a terminology slip. There is no software that records DVD. What you meant to say was DVD authoring or burning program. Recording implies hardware, I think
