Hi, I plugged in Microphone at the rear of computer, did sound recorder test, nothing happening. Performed Sound hardware test, microphone test, Playback greyed out. Sound playback and sound recording device Vinyl AC'97 Audio (WAVE). OS Windows XP Home Ed. In built audio on MSI P4MAM-V Series MS-6787 v2.x motherboard. tried googling, no luck. I'm just a newbie, what sound card would be compatible with my motherboard? How do I install it, do I have to disable the in built one, and how? Hubby tried to take the computer to a technician a few months ago, he said he can't fixed it as it has something to do with set up. Didn't notice mic doesn't work for a couple of years now until I downloaded Skype for testing.
