best quality connection for desktop to tv

alrighty, recently got myself a HD 20in flat pannel tv for christmas and would like to attempt to hook it up to my compy.... the tv has the following input options: S-video, 9-pin (honestly cannot remember the term used for that one in the manual >_<), 15-pin VGA, RCA, and componet video.... I have a nvidia 6800gt with a DVI out, VGAout, and S-video out.... currently using the s-video cause i had a spare cable laying round, but it's close to impossible to read my desktop without tweaking the color out to ****.... watching videos seems to be fine though with little bluring but cause i had originally used a 19in crt with 1600X1200 res i was quite used to using a large desktop with small text.... any way to get a higher quality picture with little tweaking at the highest possible res for the TV, currently using the 600X800 on the s-video cause i can read the text then but the TV i belive can handle a higher one, i belive it was 1024... thanks for any help with this... ^_^
