"Bass orders"

I was shopping for subwoofers yesterday (custom guitar cabinet) and I noticed some of the enclosures have "bass order" ratings, like "4th bass order" and my Z-5500 sub is "6th bass order". Does anyone know what this means or have any links/articles on it?
