I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me with a problem I'm having. My PC is hooked up to my hi-fi and I can output sound without any problems.

However, I wanted to record my cassette tapes onto CD via the PC so I hooked up the tape out on my AMP to the audio in on my mobo. But my realtek audio software automatically checks the jacks and states no signal is being received from the line in. I have tried recording but without success.

Any ideas why no signal is getting through, system info below:

Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 mobo
Athlon 64 3200XP
1Gb Kingmax DDR400
NAD 350C Stereo Amp
Yamaha KX-580SE Cassette Deck

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers Tom. I plugged into the microphone socket and now Realtek Sound Manager recognises an input. Only problem is I still can't capture from the source and doesn't the microphone input only use mono recording?

If anyone has any ideas for how to get the line in method working, thanks in advance.

Cheers
Matt

I think there's an advanced option setting in the sound card's control panel where you have to chose which device is used for recording.

Either that, or in your capture program, you have to select "mic-in" manually.

Also, I believe Mic-in might be stereo for computers? I don't know...
