If you get Goldwave, I find it much better beacuse It can change almost any video file into almost any audio file, plus it has audio editing with it.

Use a free program call TMPGEnc 2.x, it has a MPEG tool that can de-multiplex (split the video and sound) to mp3 or mp2 for you.

ive only had to split the video from the audio one time... and it was very unpleasent, the video was in some wierd format that was very very compressed and unknown, took ages to find the conversion on the net.
