Audio from computer through speakers

I'm going to be purchasing speakers for my TV in the near future and I want my computer audio to come through these speakers as well. Right now I have the audio from my computer hooked up to my TV with a simple 3.5 Stereo Jack on both ends. When I get my new speakers will I be able to hook up the same cable into the speakers and get audio from my computer?

I'm asking this because my TV has a "PC INPUT' on the back and I'm not sure if it will work if it isn't connected through that input.
