i wanna get a PAIR of good car subs. i dont need an amp but i do need a box and 2 subs to fit in that box for around $800. anyone know of some good subs that really make a car shake i mainly want to use these for show so i want them to really hit. please post ideas of good subs because i dont know anyone good ones out there.

My friend has 2 10's in his trunk, heavy but VERY clean and low bass.

I can't remember the name though, I will check with him sometime to see, he didn't pay a whole lot either.

Eclipse makes some of the best car audio stuff around. Their subs are amazing... they're a bit pricey as their sound quality is superb. personally, i have a single clarion 12" in my trunk and it's quite loud w/ good sound quality and a fair price. clarion gets my vote.

for $800 though, i'd go with a pair of eclipse 15's http://www.eclipse-web.com/sw9100/sw9152.html (if you mostly listen to rap/hip-hop). As far as a box goes, ported or bandpass boxes can be expensive and need to be made custom and to exact specifications for your subs. They tend to be "boomier" and often are loudest at a specific frequency. Sealed boxes, however, tend to be all around good performers for less $$$ and deliver a more balanced, tighter bass.

check e-bay for some good sub prices.

go here http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxes.asp for more info. about boxes

-edit- i forgot to mention eclipse also sells sub kits (box included) check it out http://www.eclipse-web.com/boxes/sw61246104bxd.html

something like those??
those look badass man that rubber surrounding is huge

ok well these look like they can really do some damage and are at a reasonable price but what kind of box are these good with like specific design.

also if theres any other subs that are good please post
i did a google search and im hearing good things about the adire shivas but i cant find them anywhere

those subs will def. do some damage :D if you're going to go with a sub that's known for its good sound quality (like eclipse and adire for example), go with a sealed box. the bass is going to be much more accurate and tighter without sacraficing hardly any raw volume

so would these subs need like farad capicators or something highend cause those thick surroundings look like theyre power hungry

also can anyone find a place where it gives the price and where to buy the adire shivas cause all im getting is forums after forums on how cheap and awesome they are so i wanna check em out

thick surround woofers reproduce horrible bass over 50hz. set your crossover to that frequency if you use them.

jbl gti series are the best woofers ever made. they reproduce accurate reproduction from 15 to 800hz (the 15's). they are no longer in production. their pro audio counterpart (2226) are still available. their 600watts RMS is misleading. that is the pro rating whrer the music is constantly up. for listen to regular music their rating is about double that

these are good woofers. they retail for 700 a piece in stores. they are kove Armageddons. due to some license restrictions parts express are not allow to advertise the name

ive heard good things about this sub. it doesnt have a thick surrounding but people say it can really rattle. anyone had any expirence with this sub?

also is a box like this good? http://justwoofers.com/Enclosures/AudioCraft/AudioCraft_bandpass.htm
im not sure what kind of box would get me the best sounding and hitting bass.

that alpine surround design is the way that you get great control and far excusion (the jbl gti's series surround is exactly like that). big surround has no control over higher bass frequencies

sealed and ported boxes are more accurate. bandpass is louder, but they have horrible group delay (sluggish sound) and you can't hear if you are over driving your woofer with bandpass.

a simple sealed box is easier to get accurate sound, but a properly designed (sometimes hard to make) port box is the way to go, as you can go up 8 to 10 db louder plus you can make it deeper than a sealed box

you will find that the jbl is louder than almost any speaker ever made. they had an old aura speaker that was most loudest accurate speaker but it was expensive. these new woofers that handle higher power (3000-5000 watts) they all sacrifice sensitivity (loudness) for that high power handling, meaning that the jbl will go louder and deeper with just 400 watts than those other woofers will when they are receiving 2000-3000 watts
