Default How to calculate total noise from case fans?

I'm planning on replacing some stock case fans with quieter versions, but was thinking about a larger number of quiet fans cause they move less air. If you add one or more fans, how much louder would it make the entire case? And would it actually be quieter?
I understand that dB rating increases logarithmically. So I don't think two 9 dB fans would be as loud as one 18 dB fan. What do you guys think?

Thanks

It's really an individual perception. What's loud to you maybe fine to me and vise-versa. Fan's are fairly cheap so I say just start experimenting.
