so over the past few weeks i have been pretty busy but i finnaly found the time to sit down and cut up my stock gpu heatsink so i didnt have to buy any ram coolers or mosfet coolers. any way you will see what i am talking about from the pics.

you can see what i clevearly did, saved me alot of money, instead of buying those stupid mem heatsinks and mosfet coolers :D

Doesn't look too bad, pretty good idea, I never would have thought about it ;).

How did you find out the temps of the vram?
 
its a bit easier to do with a 4870/90. the actual gpu heatsink is separate from the rest of the assembly :)

about the vram - most of the newer gpu's display core temp as well as mem temp in rivatuner/gpuz/any other gpu temp monitoring program

like burn said, it has temp monitors on the vram.

i know it does look a little rough doesnt it? i only had like an hour to do it before i went to a lan :D kindve wish i had done a little better, and possibly re painted the heatsink.
