Default Using Visual Studio express.

I want to download visual studio so i can compile a source file but when i search for visual studio i get , Visual C#, Visual Basic, Visual C++ , and web developer 2008. is there such thing as visual studio 2008?

VS2008 is still in beta. You can download it and beta test it, but there are likely to be bugs.

VS2005 is the current release.

Keep in mind that with Visual C++ Express, you can't do MFC and things like that. You have to buy the full version to get all of the functionality. But Visual C# Express isn't much different than the full version.

But if all you want to do is compile and not program, you probably don't care.
