URL previous web page

I'm not a web pro and using Free Geocities as my web space provider. Why doesnt the back button work in my URL whenever I click it? It directs to the "Sorry the page you requested was not found" page of Geocities though the page does exist on the server. I've already removed this URL due to that problem.
