I need to find a way to have a task scheduled that will save a workbook, close it, and then another task to run five minutes later to open that workbook up again (it's got to close to backup). I think i've got the opening back up part handled, but the saving and closing part eludes me. I've search with Google, but didn't find anything for saving and closing via batch file.
I'm using MS Office 2003 and Windows XP Pro.

Thanks in adavnce.

I am assuming the workbook will not be in use when you need to backup

try using the excell autosave add-in and then a bat file that runs routinely before the backup commences which closes the document, and exits, and because the workbook is autosaved at x interval, as long as it is not changed before the x interval, it will save, close and reopen.

the bat files are incredibly simple and the add-in is a google search away

hope it helps
