Hi. I'm totally new to programming and software and writing code. I would like to know what are some good books to use to help teach yourself how to program? Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I basically want to learn a widely use language(like C,C++,?) and then expand and learn as many languages as I can.

Programming in C++ by Mr. Robert Lafore.
ASP.NET unleashed by Mr Stephen Walther.
The HTML Black Book by Mr. Steven Holzner.

Just go to a local book store, into the computer section, find a language that fits you, and use it. I suggest learning C++ and PHP togather (i did vb and php but i cant do php very well at all) because it will allow you to have communicative scripts (so you can do auto update ect ect)

Well if you want to learn programming the correct way try find a book written by a computer science professor. There are plenty of books out there just written by programmers who do not code correctly or safely so they teach you how to be a bad programmer.

For C++ i would recommend D.S. Malik, you can get it from walmart.com
