Free C/C++ Compiler

Anyone reccomend a good one for a learner??

Install Cygwin on Windows and use GCC/G++, or use/install Linux and use them.

They don't have any front end though, strictly command line only.

On Linux you have no problem: GCC/G++
On M$ Windows you can use this alternative:

I've been using Quincy 2005. Stable, has a decent front end, not much or a learning curve as far as the IDE goes, can do console, Win32, GUI, and Linux programming. Here's the URL

actually whats the difference between compliers? how is dev different from well....borland or turbo?

Iv noticed a difference when using dev c++ and then porting it over to visual studio 6, lil things like functions being called void"name" are changed to int "name" etc also the examples iv used with dev for includes dont use . h such as #include<iosteam> instead of <iosteam.h> maybe im wrong lol theres very little difference just user interface and lil things.
