Software Development Engineer

Picsel's ePAGE™ enables mobile phones and other embedded devices to view and manipulate any kind of document, including full web experience, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Flash, images, video and audio. Patented techniques for graphic rendering create a unique experience and allow the user for the first time to enjoy mobile access to all of the rich content familiar on the web and desktop.
Reports to:
Engineering Line Manager. Responsibilities:
• To work as a member of a project team developing specific software technologies or customer products.
• To generate detailed technical requirements prior to implementation derived from high level product and customer requirements.
• To perform appropriate software design related to the requirements.
• To write code that implements the design.
• To perform appropriate tests of the design and code in order to verify its quality, including writing test cases as needed.
• To fix bugs arising in the product.
• To generate documentation for the design and the code.
• To act as reviewer of peer engineers' code
• To create estimates for work performed and track progress.
• To work in conformance with Picsel's quality management system, policies, procedures and standards
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelors degree or equivalent in computing, IT or software engineering
• Minimum 4 years experience as a software development engineer.
• To develop new products using a combination of ePAGE and BREW/PalmOS/SymbianOS/WindowsCE/linux APIs
• Professional use of software engineering tools, such as compilers, SDKs, build tools, debuggers, bug tracking and configuration management tools (CVS)
• In depth knowledge and experience of C programming
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following technologies:
o Browser development including HTMl, Javascript, CSS
o Graphics processing/computer graphics
o Document formats and document conversion
o Application user interface design
o ARM/StrongARM processors
o Mobile operating systems, including SymbianOS, WinCE, Linux, PalmOS, Brew
• Knowledge of Perl, mySQL or PHP scripting is advantageous
