Upon finishing the flash of my new mobo's BIOS I had my folding rig's motherboard literally fall apart.

Now this only means I'm down for these next few weeks except for my one GPU client.

When my next build is up what kind of boost in numbers can I see going from Athlon x2 to Phenom II x4?

Almost double your smp ppd. As you got times the cores to crunch. But its also Ghz dependant too.

Ok well the fell apart wasn't that dramatic as I made it sound. The coin battery slot arm that held the negative side and the coin in, fell off, (mind you it broke off) when I went to reset and this was after the P4 connector started to slide off the soldered pins. I had hoped it wasN'T broken and went to reset the bios and it killed itself. I can take pics later.

That's what happens when you use an OEM board to it's limit I guess. It kills itself?

As for parts I just flashed a brand new ,now AM3 Foxconn A78AX I'm getting for Christmas.
and I have the ram so I'm going straight to ordering a 945 asap.

I had already discussed with Trotter which I should get the 940 like you suggested or the 945 and it benefits me more to spend the extra $.

The board I got is AM2+ I flashed it to AM3 compatible.
