Figured you guys might appreciate the photo....today was folding rig maintenance day. Was getting BSODs a couple of days ago and when I did a temp check I found all four cards running well over 75C and the hottest getting well into the 90s before the comp would kick out a BSOD.

Anyways, took her apart and cleaned ou the bunnies:

Back together now and after folding for a couple of hours the hotest card is fixed at 64C while all the others are below 60C. Woohoo! Back to the grind!

Yup...all folders should take heed and do this every couple months.

It really makes a difference in terms of heat produced...they run much cooler. Dusting out the case can only do so much.....but pulling the heatsinks off makes a major difference.

If i was more confident i would watercool all my cards and get some insanely low temps.

Ah, so that explains your dropped ppd. Good that you got everything back running again though

I do love my 36C load :D

Yup....30C drop in temps on the bad card....can't beat that!

Same here...have the parts to WC my 260's just have to find the time to do it. As for the 8800gts'....it's a matter of money.

You'd be surprised at the difference a good aftermarket heatsink can make.
And I want to see more hardware porn please :D

+1. Aftermarket heatsinks make a huge diff. The one I got from you Slay dropped temps by about 30C+

Yeah, I have a couple options there but the stock coolers on the 8800gts are decent. I use my aftermarket coolers on my 8800gt and 9800gt.

Man, a cleaning sure does a body good...the paste has had time to cure now and the cards are all running in the low-mid 50s.
