Zalman ZM-MFC2 fan controller

I just got this after waiting about a month or more for it to get back in stock. I want to install it but it comes with this CVS extension thing that I really dont want to install. Does anyone know if it is necessary.

No it isn't Zalman's run fine without the controller I don't use one and so doesn't b1gapl.

This may be a noob question but I just want to make sure. So its not gonna get over-volted or anything without the Current/Voltage Sensor on it?
